ANOTHER honest, sensible letter from Allan Ramsay (April 11). “With obesity set to cripple our NHS, costing £100 million”, he asks, how much worse it might get. Couldn’t we all pay more tax to help it out?
Allan, leave these fat people alone; not everyone wants to take responsibility for their health and the more they eat the more complications they can boast about.
Next, you will want them to get off their couches, eat more vegetables and walk to the local shops. There is always a drug to help and, if that has bad side effects, there is always another to stop that one. This is keeping pharmaceutical companies and tired doctors in business.
Doctors’ surgeries would be empty if it wasn’t for all our fat people.
