THIS is an open letter to the players of Bolton Wanderers Football Club.

Well, it is now down to one game.

One game to preserve this club’s place in the Premier League.

One game to show the Bolton fans that you have got what it takes to keep this club up.

One game to give something back to the supporters, who have been unstinting in their loyalty and backing for you.

One game to make up for the many disappointments of this season.

Some of you may not be here next season, whatever happens on Sunday, but the supporters will be because this is their club. They are the heart and soul of Bolton Wanderers.

They are working class people who have scrimped and saved, in the most austere economic climate for years, to pay money for season tickets and admission money to watch their team.

It’s money that helps to give you the privileged lifestyle, that they can only dream about.

So do not go on TV or radio or give interviews to the newspapers, saying you know what has to be done and how sorry you are for the situation the club is now in. Keep your counsel and concentrate 100 per cent on your training and think of what you must do on Sunday.

Then, when Sunday comes, go out at the Britannia Stadium, stand tall and proud in those famous white shirts and give your all for a win.

If you do win, you will be heroes to thousands of Bolton supporters and will have their gratitude forever.
