I WRITE in response to “global businessman” Andrew Davidson’s recent letter, regarding Trinity Church, Trinity Street Bolton (June 29).
Firstly, Mr Davidson wrote similar in September, 2010. I see here in 2012, he still hasn’t done his homework — nor gone any further in beginning a public fund to buy it from its owners, who have remained a mystery to him since at least 2010.
What intrigues me, as Mr Davidson claims to be a prominent global businessman, (see his other self-promoting letter(s) where he takes an average 10 global flights a month) employer and investor in our town, is why he hasn’t begun a fund himself, using I assume, his considerable resources?
His plan, to use it as a graduation centre, university auditorium and, no less, a comedy store, to be restored by our unemployed (bringing back a purpose to people, he claims), serving a privileged few is worthy of a poor comedy sketch, made even less funny by the fact the building’s owners, G&J Seddon, have planning permission to convert it into homes and have had for some considerable time.
If Mr Davidson had taken the time and trouble to actually look around Trinity Church, rather than observing it from his tinted glass limousine for at least two years, he would see the planning permission notices, posted by the owners and Bolton Council. W Standford Bolton
