THE unusual report that King Henry VII splashed out the equivalent of £3 million on clothes because of his insecurities is strangely reassuring for many of us.
According to expert historian and author Tracy Borman, the Tudor king was apparently a very big spender especially around the time he feared a Yorkist challenge to the throne.
Now this is good news for everyone – particularly women – who take to the high street to cheer themselves up. It validates all those times when we spent money on clothes because we were feeling low. And we all thought Henry was a miserable miser!
