TURTON Tower in Chapeltown Road, Turton, is one of the most fascinating historic houses in the North-west.
Now though, sadly, there are concerns that the building that dates back to the 1400s may have to close because visitor numbers are dwindling. There are still hopeful suggestions to modernise it by creating more interactive features and also possibly by making it a wedding venue.
I really hope something positive is done to save it because it’s a beautiful, atmospheric building. It would be a great shame if it closed, and a door slammed on an important piece of local history.
