I felt I must write after hearing from my daughter of an incident in Stroud concerning Bolton Wanderers fans on Saturday, April 13. My daughter works as a shop assistant in the town and news travels fast in a small place.
It would seem the fans went into a Stroud pub called The Lord John and caused mayhem. As a Boltonian (although I have lived in Stroud for 62 years), I decided to speak to the manager and apologise. He told me it had been a nightmare and he had decided to close the bar.
I am quite sure there are still many fantastic people living in Bolton and would deplore a few who would disgrace the name of Bolton.
My sister and her family are in Bolton and I am pleased to say they are well-behaved Wanderers fans. I have written to the Mayor and will be writing to Mr Freedman.
