THE anonymous writer of the letter, “Disaster of same-sex marriages”, says these marriages are “an abomination”.
He/she says: “Marriage is between man and woman, designed by God as the best way to bring up children; it’s about family life.” But surely, couples in same-sex marriages can enjoy family life? They can also adopt children, if they wish, to make their family complete.
Anon says there is nothing wrong with civil partnerships for same-sex couples. Maybe he/she can explain the difference, when marriage, to many, is merely a civil partnership with most marriages ending in divorce, in spite of making a solemn promise, before God, family and friends, to stay faithful until parted by death?
Two people in love, wanting to commit themselves to each other, is a wonderful thing. If they want to do this before their God, who are we to say they shouldn’t?
