WHILE it’s understandable that alcohol abuse groups are concerned about lifting the ban on selling liqueur chocolates to youngsters, is this really a potential problem?
They fear it could be the “slippery slope” that leads to alcoholism. I know that vigilance is the name of the game where children and booze are concerned but I think we need to pick our battles more carefully. Judging by the amount of liqueur actually in the chocolate treats, it’s more likely that obesity rather than alcoholism could result.
