CHARTERED engineer Mr Alan Fitzpatrick is often seen going around Edgworth where he lives collecting litter.
This unusual “hobby” not only keeps him fit but helps to keep this pretty area tidy and rubbish-free.
Mr Fitzpatrick has a litter picker, makes no fuss about his activities but has now had his public spiritedness commended by many after a picture of him was posted on Facebook.
At the opposite end of the same problem are the low-life who just callously dumped rubbish in Gorton Street in Bolton for the second time.
The first occasion resulted in a huge mound of old clothes left in the street.
Now shoes, soil, tubing and gardening products have been piled there.
Rubbish – whether it’s just a carelessly thrown crisp packet or deliberately dumped mounds of bags and items – blights areas.
Vigilance and caring for our communities is the only answer, plus court action for the worst.
