IT sounds like the makers of The Great British Bake Off are definitely taking it down an alternative route.
After the cosy relationship of Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood and the sharp, warm and relevant wit of Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, the new- look Channel 4 programme will feature clever chef Prue Leith and her sometimes spiky personality, sharp-tongued presenter Sandi Toksvig and unpredictable comedian Noel Fielding.
It’s hard to see how the national favourite programme could get any darker. What next? A haranguing for poor meringuing? A flogging for contestants if their pies dare to exhibit soggy bottoms?
