IT’S very easy to castigate the father of the 12 year-old girl who has become the country’s youngest mother but he really does seem to be trying to make the best of it.
Like all parents of girls, you dread the thought of them coming home one day from school and announcing they’re pregnant. But this new grandad, who has his own business, is determined to give his daughter a sense of pride in her lovely baby. It also appears that the parents of the 13 year-old father are also supporting this new little family.
No-one wants their child to be responsible for a baby before they’re hardly grown themselves, but at least having a strong support unit behind them makes a big difference. The time for apportioning blame has gone. The future of three youngsters is now at stake and that’s something more important on which to focus.
