The founder - chairperson of the Bolton & District Over 50s Federation Mrs Zonya Marsh has recently been awarded their annual prestigious Gerald Taylor Award by the Rotary Club of Bolton <p>
Zonya had almost single handedly 'built -up' this organisation 'as a voice of the local older people' out of the old 'Better Govt. for Older People' initiated in very late nineties. BOFF is neither a political nor a fund-raising body ; it is for 'disseminating' knowledge and make people aware of the various issues around old age and the ageing population of today. It publishes a regular bi-monthly Newsletter and holds open meetings every two months to discuss various topics in relation to health and social care and general living in the community. Several seminars and school essay competitions have also been held acclaimed by many who are interested in later years of life.
The Rotary movement should be praised for their 'attention' to 'ageing and aged people' with the developing foresight on the most important social phenomenon of this age.
We congratulate Zonya on her award for her life long dedication to welfare of older people
