AFTER reading about Bolton Council’s efforts to crack down on fly tipping, littering and the like, perhaps they should realise that fly tipping is frequently a result of over-occupancy of houses after extensions are built.

No one seems to be in control of planning for increased occupancy and the resultant increase in household waste.

It seems that dumping excess domestic rubbish on to the public highway is considered acceptable by residents in some quarters.

A policy of fortnightly household waste collections imposed by Bolton Council is, of course, not helping the problem.

Are efforts being made to follow up on fly tipping incidents to find out which socially irresponsible individuals are guilty of this offensive behaviour?

As a long-term resident of the Rumworth area, I can say that fly tipping is a constant and growing problem around this district which affects the lives of everyone.
