IN my capacity as Town Mayor of Horwich, I would like to invite residents of Horwich to join me for this year’s Annual Remembrance commemorations.

On Sunday a service and silence will be held at 11am at the Chorley New Road cenotaph outside of Horwich Loco works followed at 11.30am by a Civic parade starting on Ramsbottom Road by Horwich RMI Club which will continue along Victoria Road, Church Street and Lee Lane stopping on route outside of the Public Hall and at the Lever Park Cenotaph for a service and silence at 12.15pm. The parade will then make its way back to Horwich RMI Club via Chorley New Road.

On Armistice Day itself, a silence will be held outside of Horwich Public Hall, Lee Lane at 11am and maroons will be fired.

In this centenary year to commemorate 100 years since the start of the First World War, it is especially important that this year, we pay extra tribute and respect to all those who have fallen in past and present conflicts.

Cllr. Richard Silvester,

Town Mayor of Horwich.
