Re the announcement that Bolton Council Chief Executive Sean Harriss is to move to Lambeth Council in London.
Mr Harriss has been Chief Executive for less than eight years, he doesn’t live in the town and it appears he has used the position as a stepping stone to a higher salary; as if £170,000 is not enough!
I am no fan of the tax-payers alliance but their focus on the cavalier spending of tax-payers' money on high salaries and expensive recruitment methods for chief executives will have a resonance with hard working council tax payers in Bolton.
It is to be hoped that council leader Cliff Morris does not use our money for expensive recruitment consultants. Bolton Council should also use this as an opportunity to review the huge salary it currently pays its chief executive to redirect savings to pay its own staff the Living Wage.
