I READ in Wednesday's edition of The Bolton News that Mr Woods a Harwood resident recently applied for permission to fell a cedar tree beside his house.
His reason being that the tree had outgrown, and was causing damage to the drains and lifting the pathways. After an inspection by the planning department in Bolton Council, officers decided to refuse the request on the grounds that it would result in unacceptable tree loss.
Just previous to reading this I had arrived home from a visit to Bolton town centre, where I witnessed the felling of what seemed to me perfectly healthy trees in Newport Street. From this I can only deduce that this was a totally acceptable tree loss.
Maybe there is one law for the council and one for the electorate, or am I being cynical.
