EVERYONE hears people grumbling about speed cameras.
"A cash cow!" "Only there to rake in money at the motorists' expense!"
But should we stop a minute and think if people didn't break the law, there would be no fines and no money being raked in.
Friends tell me they didn't see a speed limit sign — so were caught on camera. Some then attend speed awareness courses and say this gave them food for thought.
But has this been enough to improve their observation? Now do they spot the speed limit signs every time?
Bolton & District Group of Advanced Motorists is a registered non-profit making charity. Its courses aim to raise drivers' observation skills so turning them into "thinking drivers". They should now be noticing everything around them on the road, enjoying their driving more, keeping themselves and their families safe and have the extra benefits of cheaper car insurance and lower fuel costs. Why not have a look at the next course - it could change your life.
The next course starts on Wednesday, 22 July at 7.00pm at Lostock Parish Centre, Tempest Road, Lostock, BL6 4EL. Contact Annette Gamble on 01706 825405 or look at the website www.boltoniam.org.uk for details.
