IN choosing Stockport as the fourth super hospital, and stating that one of the criteria is that no visitor should be further than 45 minutes away by public transport from the appropriate specialist hospital of the four, surely none of the four fulfil this criteria for our area.

Visiting will be a nightmare.

Currently if someone in Bromley Cross has a heart attack, I believe they would be taken by ambulance to Royal Bolton, which currently has a good reputation, this might take 30 minutes. I believe they say the first hour is the most important. Are they in future going to go to one of the four? This could take forever with current traffic levels.

The super hospitals will draw the best staff away from the secondary hospitals, and we will end up with a two tier system, but Manchester and South Manchester will be fine.

They quote 300 lives saved a year with new arrangements, have they factored in people lost due to time lost in travel.

Reassurance needed please.
