THE ever self-promoting MP and leadership hopeful Andy Burnham (Bolton News, August 18) I'm sure raised a few wry smiles amongst those of us with a memory span of more than a few days, especially with his record of constantly 'flip-flopping' over what he actually believes in?
Many of us of course haven't forgotten his (and his Party's) flawed, past record when in government —whether the NHS, the economy or even in his own Leigh constituency — where the unwanted Busway is under construction instead of the rail link his constituents wanted.
He says he is the man who would stand up to the Tories — unfortunately for him they do have a record of past achievement in the north; from the Mersey Basin Campaign, Community Forests, Docklands regeneration and Industrial Development zones amongst others, up to the now happening Northern Powerhouse his Labour Party have failed miserably to equal.
All Labour Governments have ended in serious economic disaster. His welcome to serve in the Shadow Cabinet with his extreme socialist Party colleague Jeremy Corbyn, only emphasises the fact that it doesn't matter whom they select, you will get the same result as before?
