FREQUENTLY in the Bolton News urgent requests are made for donated goods which can be sold in the Hospice shops because stocks are very low.

It was surprising therefore to read in Wednesday's Bolton News that a sale of stock at the Chorley Old Road shop is being held with all items being sold for £1 per item until this Friday in order to clear the premises for refurbishment. The shop will then be closed whilst this takes place.

Presumably it would be known some time ago that this was going to happen, so the stock there could have been run down, and any remaining stock and new donations given to the other Hospice shops in the area where a realistic sum would be raised.

I keep donating quality items in the hope that they will fetch a reasonable amount, but am very disappointed to read that everything - regardless of its worth - is being sold for just £1.

Great for the bargain hunters but not encouraging for those of us who give generously in the hope of boosting much needed funds.
