RE the artist's impression of the proposed Newport Street 'makeover.'
If carried out it would be a significant improvement to this shabby looking street.
I am pleased to see that the bizarre skeletal canopy does not feature in the proposal.
Sadly, there does not appear to be shown any replacement of rain cover on either side of the street to protect shoppers from the occasional rain we get in Bolton.
May be a dream, but canopies on both sides of the street could be equipped with solar panels, as we also get occasional sunshine!
The energy could be applied to the shops and perhaps the Town Hall, to illuminate council chambers whilst the 'green' council works out the best way to deny the community access to naturally occurring shale gas?
