BOLTON Tory MP Chris Green seems to think that we were all born in yesterday in relation to the issues surrounding the building of new homes in Blackrod.

He is simply trying to make political capital. First, instead of blaming Bolton Council for allowing the development to go ahead, let us look a little into the practices of housing developers if we are looking for culprits.

When these large land development companies are up against local council objections, these companies have much greater legal budgets than town councils do, and the way this works is that the companies simply exhaust the legal budgets of councils be a process where they keep appealing against the councils decisions until councils back down because they can no longer afford to financially continue the fight.

And the reason why councils don't have the legal budgets to fight is because of cuts made by Chris Green's own party.

If he had any real interest in addressing this he would ask David Cameron to change the law to stop these companies.
