FULL marks to Sweden for this year's Eurovision Song Contest. On the plus side, it was very well presented and the new voting system was a definite improvement.
Even Graham Norton's commentary was less acerbic than usual, finally relinquishing the Terry Wogganisms.
On the minus side, why were most of the songs sung in English? Wouldn't it hace been better to ave had them sung in their original languages with subtitles in order to preserve each country's identity?
Also there were far too many distracting flashing lights and video screens. The winning song was won purely on political grounds, it being one of the worst, most forgettable songs on the show.
I doubt whether it would have won had not Russia invaded the Ukraine.
