I READ with interest the story in Monday's edition about Bolton Council's land sale amounting up to £7.8 million.
When one bears in mind the £204m they are already have in reserve, why, oh why, are they putting adult social care into a local authority trading company?
The next step is full privatisation. The unions believe that the LATC is a flawed business model, doomed to failure, and I must say I share their fears.
All this to save £1.5million. I urge them to rethink and use some of the money gained in the land sale, dip into the reserves, and go back to fully public social care provision
Social services care had an excellent reputation, so why jeopardise this first class service?
The people who will suffer are the service users and the employees, with a reduction in standards for the adult service users, and worse pay and conditions for the workers.
Bolton Labour needs to listen to people sometimes, instead of its 'we know what is best' attitude. We all can all make mistakes, I urge the council to hold its hands up, and admit it may have made one with LATC.
