ANOTHER fantastic weekend in our town with the second successful and increasingly popular Bolton Pride event that included a parade, music, singing and dancing, entertainment, awards ceremony and a moving candlelight vigil with emotional speeches made.

Hundreds of people united and supported the lgbt community within our town with a very positive weekend that celebrated equality, diversity, respect and tolerance and showed once again that fear, prejudice, homophobia, transphobia, ignorance and hate will never be tolerated or ever win in our town.

The Bolton Pride team of volunteers once again deserve praise and credit for working so hard over many months to organise this event and for putting it all together so that others can enjoy and be themselves in a safe and friendly environment with their friends, partners and families.

It was really pleasing to see so many volunteers and staff from local community organisations, Bolton Council, unions, and councillors from Labour, LibDem and Conservative all actively taking part to make the event a good one and also great to see that our Mayor and Consort Cllr Lynda Byrne and Cllr John Byrne attended all the Pride events over the three days too.

Bolton Pride with its dedicated team and with the help of others within the Bolton family will surely make this event continue to grow and be more successful even further over the coming years ahead and that their positive actions will show that Bolton can be and will be a 21st century town showing tolerance, equality and respect to others.

One town. All Equal.
