I OBJECT to the siting of 15 gas powered generators at Chequerbent, Westhoughton, on ecology grounds which include unsustainable effects on various wildlife species and their breeding habitats. These species include barn owls, tawny owls, skylarks and others. There is also the variant noise levels for bats.

This intrusive power station can be seen from Snydle Hill etc.

The site is also a wildlife corridor on a brownfield site in a green belt which is next to the 1830s railway embankment covered with mature trees. It is also on the edge of Hulton Park which is a hot spot for wildlife and an important bat feeding area.

Recently local people have come forward with new information which suggests the strong presence of various scheduled or statutorily protected species. Great crested newts have been found in the vicinity.
