I’D like to express my sincere thanks to all who took part in the weekend of events for Armistice Day and Remembrance Day.

Thanks to all former and current members of the military, Bolton Cadets, Scouts, Guides, members of the British Legion and all other community organisations who took part in the services on Victoria Square.

I’d also like to thank the people of Bolton, who turned out in their hundreds to show respect and remembrance for those who fought and died for their country.

I was particularly pleased to see so many schoolchildren and young people at both services of remembrance, as it is important for them to learn about the meaning of Remembrance and the symbolism of the poppy, so they can carry on the tradition in the future.

The participation and support of people across Bolton made it a memorable weekend and a fitting tribute to all who gave their lives so that we might live in peace.

The Mayor of Bolton

Cllr Lynda Byrne
