I HAVE to say of all the small townships in the Bolton Metropolitan Borough, Westhoughton has my greatest sympathy.
For many year its residents have battled against the destruction of the town’s infrastructure by the over development of its land.
No one has listened, especially the Labour council. So now it is happening again, thousands of houses in the pipeline and the destruction of its remaining Green Belt.
It seems no one is bothered about the quality of life of its residents and now they may treated to a new road between the M6 and the M61.
It appears Bolton West MP Chris Green is excited about its prospects, no one has ever told him that the M61 is grid locked in a morning (at a standstill).
If you build massive housing estates, sooner or later you will get problems with traffic. The same can be said with the over building of supermarkets and the sooner politician realise this, the health of the nation will start to improve.
