I AM amazed at Councillor Newall's comments about the cycle track protest.
Her praise of Labour councillors in Breightmet and Tonge with The Haulgh wards sits well alongside the party political broadcast she offered to the planning meeting despite the chairman’s protests.
However, although she did indeed vote against the application, she fails to mention that her colleagues in Tonge, councillors Peel, Donaghy and Sherrington actually voted for it.
In spite of this and as a Facebook video appears to show, they nearly lost the vote had it not been for the late conversion of councillors Spencer and Gillies
Plain fact of the matter is that were they being sincere, rather than watching their electoral backs, she, councillor Byrne and the others would have put the block on this before it even got to the application stage.
It won’t be lightly forgotten in May 2018.
