THIS year is proving quite a year for anniversaries. What with the Bolton News celebrating 150 years, Bolton Hospice 20 years and even the BBC’s Gardeners’ World chalking up 50!

May I draw your readers’ attention to one more. New Rosemere AOS are this year celebrating their 90th anniversary.

It was in 1927 when Rosemere first hit the stage with a production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s comic Operetta “Trial by Jury”. Since then the Society (which in 1976 became “New Rosemere”) has presented 107 shows. It would be interesting to know if any of your readers remember any of the early performances.

This year we are presenting our 90th Anniversary with a performance of Gilbert & Sullivan’s “The Gondoliers” at the Parish Hall Theatre, Christ Church, Walmsley. With a full orchestra under the baton of Charles Galloway and some of the best singers in Bolton on stage, it’s sure to be a great show.

Your readers are warmly invited to join the celebrations by coming to see the show, which runs from 21-25 March.

Tickets are available from Helen on 01204 300666 and more details can be found on Rosemere’s website at www.newrosemere.com
