COUNCILLOR David Greenhalgh, leader of the Conservative group on Bolton council has so far refused to resign following the revelations that one his councillors for whom he is responsible for, failed to attend the meetings of the Be Safe Partnership for a two year period and also failed to give apologies or send a substitute councillor to go instead.

Cllr. Greenhalgh was completely unaware of any of this for two years. He has publicly stated that he has now asked his Chief Whip for an urgent investigation into this serious group breakdown under his leadership and that his Chief Whip also produces an in depth report. I am now asking Cllr Greenhalgh to make this important investigation report public and to issue a copy to the Bolton News and to all members of the council speedily. Will Cllr Greenhalgh do this? If not, then what has he got to hide?

Such an investigation should focus on why Cllr Greenhalgh as Conservative leader and why the Conservative Chief Whip were oblivious as to what had occurred over this two year period.

The investigation also needs to focus on how Tory councillors report back to the Conservative leader and Chief Whip and what communication occurs between the Conservative leadership and Conservative group councillors.

We also need to know how the Conservative leader received information about the important work of the Be Safe Partnership over the past two years. Personally I believe he received no information at all.

Cllr Greenhalgh has been taken off guard by these events and was stunned at what has been revealed showing a complete failing in his leadership of the Conservative Group.

I await his response as to making this important investigation report available.

Horwich North East Ward
