I CAN understand people’s reaction to protests about not selling arms to the Yemen on an economical front — jobs are jobs and our workers need incomes.

However, I cannot understand our Government sending arms to a country (Yemen) which is brutally killing innocent women and children against the world wide agreements on war and conflict behaviours.

I am lucky I live in Britain and have never known conflict on my doorstep.

However, as a Quaker, I believe we should all take a step back and ask "what is just, what is humane and what can we do to stop needless suffering?". One piece of action is to highlight our arms sales and where they end up and the destruction they bring.

Perhaps we should ask armaments companies to consider an embargo on such high-risk sales, or becoming bridge-making companies.

We most certainly need to build bridges for the sake of world peace.
