AN open letter to Cllr Linda Thomas and Labour councillors in Farnworth.

Is it not time we the electorate were told the truth about the regeneration of Farnworth town centre?

With the local elections on Thursday, surely the electorate in the Farnworth and Kearsley wards are entitled to be told what is going on.

After all, we are voting for people who we need to trust with the future of our towns.

We have had endless promises of start dates for the new market place and now it appears that start date will be put back a further five years with the fact that the existing market place has been let to a funfair company to stage fairs on it twice a year for the next five years — or is this not true?

I am sure the electorate of all parties would be interested to know how this will impact on the start date for the new market area.

In February, just after Cllr Thomas' inauguration as successor to Cllr Morris, she is on record as saying that Farnworth "is a top priority for me" yet in the council Budget Report for the financial year 2018/19 Farnworth is not mentioned once in its 27 pages. Well that certainly prioritises Farnworth don't you think?

So where and what are you planning for Farnworth and when — a fair question I would think?

I am aware or the rebuilding of the bus station — sorry bus stop — in King Street, but isn't this funded by TfGM, not Bolton Council, and what has happened to the Tesco money?

Bolton accounts department cannot explain where it has gone, so if £350,000 cannot be accounted for, how can the people of Farnworth trust you and the council to regenerate their town centre?
