A HAPPY bunch of children pose for their class picture.

It was brought into our offices by reader Glenys Poole in the hope other readers will recognise themselves on the photograph and get in touch.

“It would be lovely to make contact again,” says Glenys.

This was a photograph taken at Roscoe Fold CE School in Breightmet back in 1948 when the children seen here were aged 11.

Glenys, who was called Glenys Roberts at the time, can be seen on the second row from the bottom on the left.

She was given the photograph by former class mate Roger Bolton who is pictured on the bottom row on the left.

Other familiar faces to Glenys are Geoffrey Bickerton, Margaret Collier, Yvonne Wilson, Wilfred Williamson, Leonard Binns, Joan Southern and Iris Bolton.

Glenys lived with her parents Mary and Bill Roberts in Brock Avenue at the time this picture was taken.

After leaving Roscoe Fold she went to Tonge Fold School.

Eventually the old school was demolished and and a new building replaced it.

“I remember we had a building in the yard that we called the Church House,” says Glenys.

Anyone who recognises themselves on the photograph or has memories of Roscoe Fold can get in touch with Gayle McBain on 01204 537269 or email gayle.mcbain@nqnw.co.uk and we can put you in touch with Glenys.
