HERE we see a group of happy park-goers back in 1953.
They are in Moss Bank Park in Bolton enjoying the heatwave of September that year.
As you can see by the number of people in the background the crowds had come out to enjoy the late afternoon sunshine.
We just love the 1950s dresses the women are wearing and it looks like the only man in the picture had just got in from work and was dragged out to the park by his family.
This picture was possibly taken during the September holidays — The Wakes’ Week — which would explain why the children were wearing their best clothes and not their school uniforms.
Although many schools in the 1950s did not have a uniform.
