THESE two men were part of a trio who had signed for 11 appearances on a TV show in September, 1973.

Dave Brooks, aged 25, went into the buying department of Exide Batteries when he left Thornleigh College but was soon singing around the folk clubs.

He joined the Octagon Theatre for several months singing in “Crompton’s Mule” and “Bolton Massacre” two documentary plays.

He was invited to make a record and his wife, June, a former receptionist from Rossendale, joined him.

She had never sung before but agreed to do the harmony on a demonstration tape.

The record company liked it and the couple have been singing together for two years.

In April they were joined by Sam Bracken, a former lead guitarist.

“Our style is relaxed and easy on the ear.

“We sing about ordinary, everyday things like going on holiday to Blackpool,” said Dave who lives in Tomlin Square, Tonge Fold.
