THESE determined little chaps were taking part in the Bolton Cub Sports held at Leverhulme Park in June 1974.

But their fun day was ruined by cruel vandals who destroyed clothes in the changing rooms.

Bolton Cub Commissioner Mr William Neville broke the news after the event was held on the Saturday.

While the 250 young cubs, who were aged between eight and 10, took part in the various events vandals destroyed shirts and shorts belonging to about six of the boys.

"They must have gone into the changing rooms and just ripped them to pieces," said Mr Neville.

As can be seen in our photograph the boys had a fine time at the games and these youngsters are clearly determined to do their very best to win.

The overall winners of the sports' day, which was attended by around 400 people, wer ethe 50th Bolton Cub Pack (Temple Road) and runners-up were the 28th Bolton Pack (St Margaret's).

What a pity thoughtless people decided to ruin what was clearly a great day for all the children who took part.
