FOUR years in the making, there are hints that Westhoughton band Our Fold’s long-awaited debut album may now actually be nearing completion.

Singer Damien Riley says: “I’m glad it’s taken so long, really. Back when we thought we were amazing we weren’t — we’re 100 times better now that we were.”

The band will be playing some low-key shows in Bolton as warm ups for their appearance at this year’s Reading and Leeds festival.

At the end of July they will also be playing alongside Florence and the Machine at Norway’s Hove festival.

“It’s an amazing place,” says Damien. “You have to get a little boat across to the site and there’s a beach party every night for artists with loads of free cocktails. There are rumours that Them Crooked Vultures might be playing, so I might finally get to meet Dave Grohl.”

And does he have an opening gambit prepared in case he were to meet the legendary drummer?

“Nirvana are like my favourite band ever so no, I’d probably just pass out before I managed to say anything,” he laughs.

The gang are heading up to Glasgow this weekend to record new songs, and have already laid down some tracks recorded in Bolton and produced by their guitarist, former Stone Rose Aziz Ibrahim.

“There’s going to be a few of the old classics on there and some new songs,” says Damien.
