The Bolton News: John has the Invisible Touch John has the Invisible Touch

FIVE piece Genesis tribute band Mama will take to the stage at the Albert Halls, tomorrow.

The band, who collectively have years of experience, despite having formed less than six months ago, will be raising money for Bolton Cardiac Support Group.

Lead singer John Wilkinson says: “The band formed in January around the nucleus of another band, face Value, who played Genesis and Phil Collins songs. We were quite popular and played all around town.

“Face Value started 12 years ago, and when that finished I decided I wanted to carry it on.”

The band play a mix of well known tracks by Genesis and some that might only be known to full-time fans.

“We do all the hits, including Invisible Touch, Turn It On Again and Tonight, Tonight, Tonight, and some of the album tracks as well,” says John, adding that the show is also as spectacular as they can be.

“We try to reproduce what Genesis do visually and audio-wise — we have worked really hard on it,” he says. “We’re all massive fans. I have this very lucky ability to sound like Phil Collins, even though I don’t look anything like him!”

The show starts at 8pm. Tickets cost £13, to book visit alberthalls-bolton.co.uk or ring 01204 334400.
