ORIGINALLY broadcast during October 1987, this was Sylvester McCoy’s second adventure as the seventh Doctor.

The Doctor and Mel (Bonnie Langford) travel to Paradise Towers with Mel expecting to be able to go for a swim in the luxurious surroundings.

Instead they find that the high-rise complex has become run down with street gangs running around and the whole place being run by the Caretakers, led by the Chief Caretaker (Richard Briers).

The Doctor and Mel must try and get all the various groups to cooperate with each other before they fall foul of a mysterious power – and they also have to avoid the deadly cleaners.

Generally regarded as a fine bit of nonsense, this adventure had McCoy coming into his own as The Doctor, and giving us a glimpse of how he was toplay the role.

As he carried on playing the role, the series went a bit darker in tone and a little more serious.

As well as the four remastered episodes, there are a number of excellent extras, such as the usual ‘Making of’, a short film – introduced by Peter Purves – with Sarah Sutton (Nyssa), Janet Fielding (Tegan) and Sophie Aldred (Ace) discussing what it was like to be a female companion of The Doctor in the eighties.

Release date: July 18th 2011.
