Disney On Ice presents Frozen

Manchester Arena

Until Sunday

IT’S the much-loved Disney film that has taken the world by storm.

And what better place to perform a story called Frozen but on the ice?

Prepare to be transported to the magical kingdom of Arendelle to discover the story of royal sisters Anna and Elsa (although, if you’ve got little ones, you’re probably an expert on the tale by now!)

It is the first time the entire Academy Award-winning tale has been told live and the fantastic skating does add another dimension to parents weary of hearing Let It Go for the millionth time.

In true Disney style, the costumes are exquisite – I even had my eye on some of the stunning, sparkly creations worn by the skaters in the show.

If you have managed to avoid the phenomenon that is Frozen since its 2013 release, here is a quick lowdown.

It tells the story of Anna, who embarks on an epic journey to find her sister, the magical Elsa - who is determined to remain secluded as she finally feels free to test the limits of her powers.

Rugged mountain man Kristoff, his loyal reindeer Sven, the lovable and hilarious snowman Olaf and the mystical trolls help Anna along the way.

Not your typical princess meets prince love story, Frozen has a twist and the story can be enjoyed across the generations.

And, of course, all the songs are included such as Let it Go, Do You Want to Build a Snowman? and Fixer Upper.

There wasn’t quite the mass singalong I expected there to be in the cavernous arena but there’s plenty of opportunity for clapping and waving along to the show.

The show is pure, unashamed Disney magic and children are sure to love every second.

However, as we all know, magic doesn’t come particularly cheap (especially the Disney variety) so – tickets aside - be prepared to go home a lot lighter than you arrived.

But, as a famous advert once said (kind of), “Special Disney on Ice popcorn: £10 (yes, £10!); your little one’s face watching their favourite film dazzle before their very eyes on the ice: priceless”.
