THEY say a change is as good as a rest, and St Paul’s Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society is hoping that its change of venue will help bring a new dimension to the next production.

The Astley Bridge group, which usually stages its productions at Chorley Old Road Methodist Church Community Hall, will be performing its forthcoming comedy, When We Are Married, at the Bromley Cross Village Hall in Darwen Road.

The play, set in the 1930s, is the most famous of J B Priestley’s work, and follows three couples celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary.

The society’s publicity officer, Phil Goodman, hopes it will bring in a new crowd: “This production is going to be in a completely different area in Bolton so we are really hoping that there will be some new faces in the audience.

“We wanted to stage this play in the round for a change but unfortunately due to work being done on the usual building we couldn’t stage it there.

“However I must say it seems to be working perfectly with that we are doing. We’re all really looking forward to the show now.

“You never know it could even end up being a permanent location depending on what plays we decide to put on in the future.

“This is a great play — I’d say one of J B Priestley’s classics. It’s a comedy so all ages will enjoy it. I won’t give away the twist at the end though, you’ll have to come along and see for yourself.”

St Paul’s ADOS performs When We Are Married at Bromley Cross Village Hall from September 11 to 13. For tickets call 01204 847866.
