CIRQUE du Soleil’s most successful UK show to date is set to welcome visitors to its Big Top to enjoy jaw-dropping performances.

Amaluna opens at the intu Trafford Centre on Wednesday and runs until October 2.

A tale of castaway romance and the obstacles true love presents, it has been described as “thrillingly executed” and “a dazzling display of acrobatic excellence”.

Amaluna promises to stun audiences with jaw-dropping performances and Cirque du Soleil’s signature mind-blowing acts.

The talented cast is predominately female with an all-female band and including three British performers, and the artist director — Rachel Lancaster — hailing from the UK.

Marissa King can be seen performing on the uneven bars, Rachael Wood is the guitarist and David Rimmer, from Southport, is an acrobat in the teeterboard act.

The show is written and directed by Tony Award-winning director, Diane Paulus, and is Cirque du Soleil’s 33rd production.

Paulus, named as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2014, said: “I didn’t want to build a ‘women’s agenda’ show. I wanted to create a show with women at the centre of it, something that had a hidden story that featured women as the heroines.”

Its Trafford visit follows a run at London’s Royal Albert Hall in January, where the show was praised by audiences who were left mesmerised by the stunning production.
