BOLTON ambulance staff will join their colleagues in turning the party clock back tomorrow.
The dedicated workers gave up their own chance of the party of a lifetime at the Millennium to provide emergency cover throughout the area. But Greater Manchester Ambulance Service management decided their staff deserved to celebrate the start of 2000 in style so they have hired the Reebok Stadium for a Millennium countdown of their own — nearly two months after the event.
Tomorrow up to 500 ambulance workers, along with staff from the NHS Direct phone line, will be treated to the sounds of Big Ben, Auld Lang Syne and Millennium TV pictures from around the world.”

LEISURE chiefs have given the “flippers up” to bring a dolphin spectacular to a local baths.
Stars of the show will be a pair of dolphins and backing them up will be performing sea lions and — trick-riding parrots! Bury Council hopes the show, at Radcliffe Baths, will produce the same reaction as it did when Horwich Pool hosted a similar event eight years ago.
Then the show attracted over 15,000 spectators during a ten-day stay at the Leisure Centre.
To cater for the normally seagoing creatures, the water in the pool will have to be specially adapted. The chlorine level is to be lowered and around 30 tons of salt added to the pool.
