A FLOOD risk assessment is holding up plans to build a new 48-room student accommodation complex.
Proposals were submitted to Bolton Council’s planning committee by Whitelionco Ltd for a six-storey building on the site of Nevada Motors on White Lion Brow, off Spa Road.
The development was due to include 48 bedrooms with en suite facilities, communal areas with kitchens and living rooms, a private gym for use by residents and an outside terrace.
The site is occupied by the single-storey Nevada Motors building, which would be demolished if the plans were given the go ahead.
But at a council meeting yesterday, planning chiefs were told the Environment Agency was still not satisfied with the standard flood risk assessment submitted for the proposal.
Jon Berry, the council’s head of development management, told members: “The agency is still not happy with the flood risk assessment and we recommend bringing it back in three weeks’ time when all that is sorted out.”
