MP challenges minister about social housing

First published in News

MINISTERS have been questioned about the lack of social housing by Bolton West MP Julie Hilling in the House of Commons.

Ms Hilling claimed there were waiting lists of more than 11 years in parts of her constituency.

She asked Housing Minister Don Foster: “During the inquiry of the Communities and Local Government Committee into welfare reform, a housing provider in one of the universal pilot schemes reported that it would lose one proposed new-build property a week from its development programme. Has the Minister assessed the impact of welfare reform on the ability of social housing providers to build new homes, and can he tell us how many proposed new homes will now not be built?”

Mr Foster did not answer the question and criticised the Labour Government for its record on social housing.

High immigration levels and social housing waiting lists are intrinsically linked yet the dumb Labour Party cannot see this. We truly have a set of awful MPs in our town and only Qureshi is more incompetent and useless than Hilling. As long as this country keeps accepting the Islamic and Polish invasions then social housing waiting lists will lengthen. The only alternative is to build 100,000 new homes each and every year which is simply not going to happen. Most people that emigrate from Britain are skilled workers while most of our incomers are economic migrants from Eastern Europe and countries like Pakistan Iran and India. Time the politicians especially those on the Left of politics accepted that basic reality and fact.

Right on Reality 50,I'm an imigrant in another country.I left Bolton many years ago. When I applied for imigrant status in my newcountry I was subjected to every kind of examination, medical,
physical, financial, proffesional,mental,
political and racial.Itsaddens me to see my adopted country going in the same direction as the UK.People without qualifications but lots of children flooding into my country, trying to change age old traditions & laws,it's sickening.I'm still very passionate about my home town of Bolton thats why I make these comments, even though it's not my concern.I learn alot from the BN comments, and I try to apply some of them to my community.

three excellent comments!I, too, left Bolton for better climes but I am also saddened by the way Bolton is declining. You really have to get rid of these current MP's and bring back common sense to the town.
