ACTRESS Maxine Peake has been nominated for a critic’s broadcasting award.

The Bolton television and radio star has been nominated for best actress in the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards for her roles in Room at the Top and Silk.

The Broadcasting Press Guild Awards recognise outstanding programmes and performances seen or heard in the preceding year.

All but three of the 14 awards are voted for by the members, made up of journalists who specialise in writing and broadcasting about television and radio.

The ceremony will be held at Gladstone Library in London on Thursday March 14.
