CONMEN who stole a florist’s order book and contacted customers for their bank details have re-started the scam.

Shoppers at Westwells in Deansgate, Bolton, are being warned not to give out their credit card details to cold callers.

The book, which contains names and phone numbers of hundreds of clients, was stolen from the shop on May 13.

Two thieves went in the shop and asked for something, owner Andrea Fallows went in the back to get it and when she returned they had gone.

A few minutes later she could not find the book.

Within half an hour the shop had calls from worried customers who had been contacted by a man saying they had been overcharged and were due a refund.

He asked for card details so the refund could be processed.

Shop staff appealed in The Bolton News for people not to give out their details.

A month later, customers started getting calls again and people are being warned to be on their guard.

Shop assistant Vicki Marsh said: “They are continuing to ring the customers.

“We had four come in this week saying they have been contacted.

“Perhaps they were thinking that people would not be as alert now a month after the book was taken.

“We just want to remind people not to give out their card details over the phone to people who cold call.”

Police said the men had “eastern European” accents.

One was about 45 years old, 5ft 8in and stocky with short black hair, wearing a black jacket with a red trim and writing on.

The other was about 30 years old, about 5ft 10in, with short black hair and facial hair which police described as “a 5 o’clock shadow”.

He also wore a black jacket with a red trim and writing on.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101.
