Octagon Theatre Bolton Chief Executive, Roddy Gauld, is the winner of the Bolton Business School (BBS) launch competition and has promptly donated the iPad prize to the theatre.

Chief Exec, Roddy, won an iPad 4 after attending the Bolton Business School launch event. The event saw Betfred Chairman, Fred Done, talk about his rise from working in his dad’s betting business in Salford to running his own multi-million pound business empire. Fred was interviewed by veteran BBC broadcaster, Gordon Burns.

Roddy said: ‘I’ve already got an iPad so when I got the news I’d won another I immediately thought of giving it to the production team at the theatre.’

The iPad will now be used backstage to speed up the production process, improve note taking, taking images and a variety of other uses.

Speaking of the launch event, Roddy added: ‘I really enjoyed it. Fred was a fascinating speaker and listening to his story was thoroughly enjoyable.

‘It was also great to see so many different people from Bolton’s business community coming together for the event. It showed what a diverse and thriving business community the town has.’

Roddy was presented with the prize by BBS head, Lisa Cove-Burrell. She said: ‘The fact Roddy has decided to donate the prize to the Octagon is excellent news. The University has a great relationship with the theatre and I’m glad now BBS has made its own contribution, thanks to Roddy’s generosity.’
