A THEATRE group has unveiled its upcoming season, including comedies and a modern classic
The news comes as Tyldesley Little Theatre (TLT) celebrates receiving four runner-up awards at the recent Greater Manchester Drama Federation for the 2012/13 season.
Ian Taylor, from the group, said they are now looking forward to the new season, “brimming with confidence” following the nominations.
Dark comedy drama Flamingoland, directed by Mr Taylor, saw Andrea Peters recognised as a Best Supporting Actress nominee for her role as anguished daughter Kathleen and the show landed a nomination for Best Production.
Winnie Beatty, a stalwart of TLT since 1978, also achieved a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her comic role of Mrs Morris in A Night on the Tiles, directed by debutante director Joyce Elder.
The celebrations were wrapped up with Joyce receiving an adjudicator’s discretionary nomination that combined praise for her directing skills for A Night on the Tiles and her glorious singing performance in Flamingoland.
Mr Taylor added: “Tyldesley Little Theatre is proud to have secured an amazing 115 awards or nominations across all competitions since 1984.”
Looking to the season ahead, it opens with the engrossing modern classic Humble Boy in October.
Then 2013 will be brought to a close with the family pantomime, Dick Whittington, in December.
Vintage thriller Cat’s Cradle will be the first production of 2014, in February, followed by seaside comedy Sandcastles in March and finishing with brand new comedy A Piece of Cake in May.
But before the new season begins, TLT members are hoping to add even more awards to their raft when the annual Bolton Amateur Theatre Society (BATS) awards take place on August 20.
Information on tickets and details of all TLT productions are available by calling the box office number on 01204 655619 or 01942 886908, or visit tlt.org.uk.
